Hey Reader! 👋 I'm hosting the 3rd AI hackathon later this week. Come build an AI project under a strict deadline and add it in your portfolio! You can join in without an idea as well. You'll build solo, live on the call, and share a demo towards the end. This is your sign to finally get your hands dirty. https://luma.com/hackaithon Continuing my observations from the career clarity calls I'm doing: Meet S. S came to me with a clear direction: they wanted to move to a high growth backend role by end of year and work-life balance is not a priority for now. They worked in such a company a few years back and moved to their current company for precisely the opposite reason: they wanted work-life balance. Well, it's a rite of passage to figure out your preferences. And theirs is "work hard, play hard". We mapped out their strengths and areas to improve for a switch. Focus is important here. Instead of spending 10 hours on 10 different things over a week, it's better to build depth in 1 without FOMO. We also discussed a couple of projects they can build to both learn more than they know + showcase it. I love reading comics on tech, here are some latest finds: https://swapnil.net/eli5 💚, read my latest blog posts 👉 https://swapnilagarwal.com/posts |

Watch it below: Backend in the Age of LLMs As LLMs get better and better, it's inevitable that roles expand to adjacencies. 5 years back, the adjacencies looked like this: A web dev can expand to mobile. A backend dev can add devops to her toolbelt. ... Today, the adjacencies are shifting. Slowly but surely, we're seeing more...

Hey Reader! 👋 I put together a list of 10 incremental hands-on exercises for AWS S3: https://swapnilagarwal.com/posts/cloud-sense-in-practice (hmu with your scores!) Alright, this is a going to be rant. There's someone, let's call them A, who asked on how to showcase technical complexity. They had good project ideas as well. But when we talked again a few months later, their resume still contains basic CRUD apps! I mean, pick a side: Either say you're comfortable with where you are. Or build...
