Continuing my observations from the career clarity calls I'm doing (all slots taken for this month, folks that submit their context now will get reached out in sept):

Meet G.

The entire conversation revolved around them trying to make a case for doing a masters to get out of their current low-paying tech job and me trying to convince them not to go for it unless you want to settle there itself.

Majority of my friends who went abroad never came back. So make that choice intentionally. There are 3 such major decisions in life:

1. where you live (city)
2. who you're with (partner)
3. what you do (career)

I've had multiple such conversations recently and in general, my answer boils down to this: Tech is in a very unpredictable state right now, so it's better to be working than go 2 years outside.

Remember S? If not, search for "Elon Musk, From Service to Product Companies, Webinar Recording" in your inbox. They had put down their papers to get out of the 90-day notice period conundrum. Kaafi courageous! Got a DM today sharing they got placed at a 42% hike. Pretty cool. I asked them to do a reflection and here's what they had to say (verbatim):

• I had to switch to proper full stack with backend java as strength from being a frontend, frontend role were not much.
• I should not have put the paper without qualifying any interview, fake resignation acceptance and then sit in an interview.
• Working and qualifying interview are too different things.
• Even luck matters a lot, 3 companies told me that they are processing my profile but they put it on hold, (Qentelli, mphasis and publics sapiens)
• Some Recruiter will treat you differently if having a gap.
